I am just truly fascinated - so fascinated about how fixations and habits, healthy patterns and securities, defenses, stability and groundedness in a person's body which translate so perfectly to the psyche and how developmental advantages, delays and traumas translate directly from the body to the mind and back, to reflect one's choices and patterns in life. We are looking at the support structure of the body "bones" just bones. Cultivating mobile stability and stable mobility. Nothing is "fixated" in the bones ... constantly cog wheeling around one another, changing their perspective, shifting and all is in relationship, so finely tuned. We do get stuck in movement patterns, old habits that delay progress, throw us off balance or create injuries which brings our attention to what was unstable or out of alignment, for a long time. It's so important how we dialogue with our body.
This program, shaped by form follows function, is out of the necessity to relate to the material and cultivate a solid focus yet flowing understanding of the knowledge encompassed within it. This work spoke to me on so many levels ... body level, community level, spiritual, mental, emotional - my experience was profound.

The classes and community invite me into a nurturing and safe embrace. There is safety created in the classes which allows me to move from my curiousity into my fears and back into the support and integration that's created by the faculty, material, and participants. I keep showing up in the circle because of this integrity.

"The BMC classes increased my intellectual understanding of the human physical instrument, but they did much more than that. The expert guidance through an experience of this instrument left me with an understanding that is more fundamental - even intuitive."
"The classes offered a safe and supportive environment for significant personal exploration and increased awareness. In short, they encouraged change - whether physical, or spiritual, or both."

"I learned more about my punch in the first hour of the class on the forearm than I have in the last ten years of teaching and training! It is amazing to understand how the form of the punch works with the structure of the bones to create strength and power. Thanks for all the insights!"

"As a teacher of classical ballet for over twenty-five years, I am continually exploring methods of developing my knowledge of movement and developing applications for the classroom. I have found that BMC covers a broad spectrum of information that is a valuable resource for teachers and dance students. Irregardless of the dance idiom, implementing BMC principles of anatomy, developmental movement, and repatterning can have a dramatic effect on how a dancer is working on their technique. The process of exploring BMC also has implications toward the development of a diverse and knowledgeable artist who has a deeper understanding of themselves and their potential.
Attending the BMC workshops has been very rewarding on both professional and personal levels. The explorations of movement and the underlying analysis have proven to be a wonderful means for more fully recognizing my creative energy as a choreographer. BMC has helped me to understand better how I am accessing movement patterns and emotional motivations in creating new dance works."

About Skeletal: "Entering marrow space ~ I am a mountain. Strong woman, resting on the earth. Red hump of my curving arms holding the dreams of animals, brothers, sisters. In my bones. Home. Bones, my ancestors. I am this continuum. Ancestor mountain teaches me to rest. In letting go, I find my feet for the first time. They touch into this powerful red earth and gain the sky. Given to me is all the love I can hold ~ and still it keeps on flowing. I open my arms wide so it can flow through me. I thank these magnificient teachers ~ my bones. And I thank the faculty guides who in this life helped me reconnect ~ What is BMC? A continuing birthday party of the very best sort! The present is PRESENCE and the cake is the sweetest community. Yum ~ xxx"

"As an Iyengar yoga teacher of over twenty years I found that taking Body-Mind Centering courses help me tremendously in understanding the workings of my body. But not just the body, because the depth of the work also brought an understanding of the connection of the mind and the body. I would recommened these courses to all yoga teachers."

"I took two Body-Mind Centering classes in North Carolina seven months after having a rare lacunar stroke. I can't say enough about how these courses helped me connect with my body and mind. The instruction was very clear and you couldn't ask for more professional teachers. I would recommend these courses to anyone rehabilitating or recovering from a stroke, injury, surgery, or accident."
